Sharky's, Venice - KVNC

Free Shuttle to restaurant. Located at the Venice Pier, this restaurant will provide free transportation to and from the Venice airport FBO. Restaurant has awesome food and the view of the Gulf is fabulous. You can see airplanes landing on runway 13 from you own table. If you feel lucky you might find a shark tooth by just walking on the beach.

The Hanger, St. Petersburg - KSPG

Took my Dad and kids to Albert Whitted, just to eat at The Hangar.
Food was great, service was great, location was even better.
The restaurant is at the West end of the runway, on the second floor.  The kids (6&4) just LOVED it.  There is a tourist helicopter, and they loved watching it come no go from right in front of us.

Try their famous chicken waffles. Bathe portion is huge, so sharing is a good idea.

We'll definitely be back!

High Jackers, Flager - KXFL

Awesome Ahi Tuna Sandwich, on weekends they have a live band playing. High energy restaurant with fantastic menu. Aviation theme decor with extensive variety of cool shirts for sale. You can sit inside or outside, the food is equally good. Only thing fancy is the food. Dress casual, you might be sitting on picnic tables.
See link for menu.

Outer Marker Cafe, Titusville - KTIX

We've been told the Outer marker is now closed. Please verify.

The Hanger, St. Petersburg - KSPG

New FBO and restaurant and clean and convenient. Restaurant has great views of the field and the parking areas. Food is somewhat expensive, and maybe a little pretentious for an on airport restaurant, but very good nonetheless. Service has always been excellent. Convenient base for operations in St. Petersburg and the FBO is easy walking distance to hotels, restaurants, and Rays games.

Tailwind Cafe, Ocala - KOCF

The restaurant is like a comfortable old diner, the food is always good and cooked to order. Service is always outstanding and the prices are reasonable. Been there for both breakfast and lunch, and the food at both is wonderful.

Airport Restaurant and Gin Mill, Deland - KDED

I would not consider the cheeseburgers to be the best in the world, but they are probably the best of any fly-in destination I have ever eaten at. Atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed. Televisions are usually tuned into whatever sporting event is on that day, so it is a good place to eat and still keep up with the games. Plenty of aircraft parking and easy to get out to the ramp.

Flight Line Grill, Bartow Municipal Airport - KBOW

The restaurant and FBO are all new, clean and fresh. I have been for both breakfast and lunch. The service is always good, the food is above-average, and seating is usually available. Save some time to spend in the WWII museum before or after your meal, well worth the time

The Airport Tiki, Ft. Peirce - KFPR

I flew in here for my 1st $100 hamburger on a cross country with my instructor. Service was great and The server was one of the most entertaining waitresses I've ever had. We got the burgers quickly; they where very large, juicy, and delicious. As soon as I get my certificate I will fly everyone I can to check this place out!

Earhart's Runway Grill, Lakeland - KLAL

Earhart's (http://www.earhartsrunwaygrill.com/) is a nice restaurant located in the Columbia Air Services FBO, one of the nicer FBOs I've been to. It has booths overlooking runway 9/27 with headsets so you can listen to tower/ground. If you have decent hearing you can turn the volume up and listen without wearing the headset.

The service when I have been there has been pretty prompt and courteous. The food is delicious. I recommend the pineapple pulled-pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. They also have some pie which is not half bad. If you're in the neighborhood, I'd say go ahead and stop on by.

Airport Restaurant and Gin Mill, Deland - KDED

You are totally wrong about the AR&GM; perhaps you were there on an off day. We have been going there since the 70's; they have, by far the BEST cheeseburgers we have ever had; every time we eat a cheeseburger elsewhere we always compare it back to the AR&GM; we have yet to have a burger as good as the ones we get there. Yes, you are correct in that it looks like a bar...because it is a bar! The building is leased from the city of DeLand; the owners' hands are tied in what they may or may not do with regard to renovations. Overall, it is a GREAT place to hang out for the afternoon; grab a quick bite; and watch the airplanes and skydivers!!! We have even taken our kids out there during the afternoon to hang out with us on the deck. I do believe that you were just there on an off-day.

Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola - 82J

Fly into 82J Ferguson Airport. Nice airport and these folks are great! Gas is reasonable, no tie down fee and they will drive you over to the museum (about 5miles away) and pick you up when you are finished. The museum is free and the displays are first class. Most of it indoors. Great little cafe inside. It was the original cafe at Subic Bay, Philipines and re-constructed here. A wonderful day!

Seafood Depot, Everglades City - X01

Just visited this past weekend for lunch. Called from the "FBO" at the field and was picked up by the Manager. Sat outside overlooking a river with views of wildlife. Ordered the fried shrimp and my wife had the "Salad Bar" price was good. I will come back and visit however I heard it gets pretty busy during the winter season. The airport has changed its frequency so check your charts. You can ask to borrow a bike from the FBO and wheel yourself to most restaurants at Everglades. From HWO with light winds only 40 minute flight in an old 172.

Downwind Restaurant, Port Orange - 7FL6

Nested in Northeast Florida, a few miles south of Daytona Beach and NASCAR's epicenter, the Daytona International Speedway, lies one of the most unique residential communities in the world.

The www.7fl6.com Spruce Creek Fly-in Community is the world's most famous residential airpark. With a 4,000 ft lighted runway and a GPS approach, the private airport at the center of the community can accommodate anything from a Stearman to a Gulfstream.

Originally a navy airfield during WWII, it evolved into the world's largest residential fly-in community. Today, almost 5,000 residents, 1,300 homes and 700 hangars share a unique life in this private gated village with immaculately groomed homes and common grounds. The first thing a visitor sees after driving through the security gates is a sign that summarizes the spirit of this community: “CAUTION Children and Adults at Play”. Truly a piece of pilot's heaven.

A championship golf course and Country Club and 24-hr patrolled security complements the safety, privacy and enjoyment of the residents. Frequent community-wide events and social clubs for most any interest from flying to book reading and gardening ensure a tightly knit and friendly community hard to duplicate anywhere. John Travolta and many other celebrities have enjoyed the Spruce Creek Fly-In lifestyle and privacy. Current home prices vary from a $165,000 condo to several million dollar hangar mansions.

Please keep in mind that any visits are by invitation only, as the community is not open to the public. If you are interested in http://www.flyinrealty.com Spruce Creek Real Estate, contact the folks at Karlhaus Realty for an invitation and they will happily schedule a guided tour:

Earhart's Runway Grill, Lakeland - KLAL

Nice new restaurant in the terminal building where the old restaurant used to be. The restaurant overlooks the field and the booths have headsets to listen to tower and air traffic. The food is good and reasonably priced. We pilots need to support these on- field restaurants and buy a few gallons of avgas from the FBOs. They are becoming a dying breed these days!!!

The Hangar, St. Petersburg - KSPG

Finally KSPG has a new terminal building and a restaurant! The facility is great and the restaurant space better. There is indoor seating and an upstairs outdoor terrance overlooking the ramp. The food is standard - I had a great BLT and the burgers with homemade chips looked great. The menu has good variety though, including in substitute sides. The Hangar have a number of specials like $5 burgers & a movie on Wednesdays. I hope this place is here to stay for a while. It's great a fly-in destination or hang-out for aviation buffs and foodies alike.

Lake Minneola Tiki Bar, Minneola - No Identifier

The Tiki Bar is a small restaurant/bar located on the east shore of Lake Minneola. It’s small – only about 12 tables and a decent sized bar and can be crowded, but well worth the wait! Its float and boat friendly, oh yeah you can drive too.

The Olive Tree, Crystal River - KCGC

This nice Greek restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the airport. It is a popular destination for Leeward and Loves Landing airmen (and airwomen). It is located on US 19 just north of the airport. Try the Greek omelet for breakfast. Service is good, prices are reasonable and your coffee cup will usually be full. There is a north/south grass strip as well as the east/west paved strip. During the cooler months you can fly over Kings Bay after your meal and see a bunch of Manatees.

Visited twice. First time, waited 45 minutes for any food, eventually got the wrong order and walked out. Gave it another try- waited with no menu or serive for 15 minutes and walked out again. I am not a very critical person, but highly do not recommend this place. No comment on taste of food since I never got to taste it!

Excellent service with a "Houston's" style menu right next to Banyan Air. I believe they are open for breakfast and lunch, as we have had lunch there several times. Great views of the Banyan Ramp and taxiways. A bit pricey, but worth the stop.

Boss Oysters, Apalachicola - KAAF

Apalachicola is oysters and if you are a fan there is no better place to be. Flew into KAAF and and were met by their friendly staff with a courtesy van ready to take us to the very heart of oyster country. We were not disappointed. Boss Oysters is the old reliable, and they do oysters more ways than you can imagine. You say oysters have to be fresh? As we were enjoying our first dozen the Boss boat pulled up to the dock and the crew unloaded five or six bags of oysters. They ran them thru the cleaning machine and took them into the shucking tables. Now that's fresh. Worth the trip.
