Cedar Key, George T Lewis Airport (KCDK) What a great little gulf coast fly-in location... Don't let the short runway scare you away from this little gem of a destination. Though the local cab (yes, held together with duct tape and bumber stickers) was waiting there at the airport, we opted for a walk. [updated 11/12/05 - 0ur second trip, we took the cab to town. $ 5 per person] [updated 01/27/08 - our thrid tirp we did not see the old cab (below) but their is one available, just call the CTAF about 5 - 10 n.m. out and ask for tranportation] It's a good 40 minute walk to restaurant row, but there's much of this destination's flavor to miss if you take the cab. Boat rides, carriage rides, fishing, shopping, and food. More than just an afternoon's fly-in. and when your legs have had enough... there's always the cab to take you back to your bird. Local residents directed us to the "Dock Street Depot" [updated 11/12/05] - This visit we decided to try out "Frog's Landing". [updated 01/27/08] - "Seabreeze Restaurant" is the best yet... last updatd 01/27/08 |
