Crystal River, Crystal River Airport (KCGC)

Located on the gulf coast about mid-way up the Florida peninsula, Crystal Aero Group runs a real nice FBO. The building and grounds are well maintained and the FBO's staff are friendly and accommodating. We've made a stop at KCGC on several occasions, but never ventured outside the gates until our September trip to try out the Plantation Inn Resort.

KCGC has plenty of parking (currently being enlarged) and offers both a 4555' paved runway and a 3020' grass strip for practicing your soft field/short field landings.

There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of the airport, including chain restaurants such as Chili's and Applebee's. I would suggest, if you have time for more than "just a bite to eat", that you try the Plantation Inn Golf Resort's restaurant (especially for their Sunday brunch). Read our review.
