New Smyrna Beach, New Smyrna Beach Airport (KEVB) The pattern at New Smyrna was very busy. They are towered now and be sure to stay clear of Dayton's airspace unless you're in contact with ATC. Upon landing, and not knowing where to park, we taxied towards the first sign of activity. We pulled up to Vintage Props & Jets, Inc. There were two line guys in front of the FBO. I signaled them for some directions where to park, however, they seemed more interested with a twin that landed after us. Finally, one of the guys pointed to a spot and then he too headed over to meet the twin. After exited the plane, we inquired about where to eat and shop. One guy shrugged his shoulders and told us to ask the girls inside. So, we headed into the FBO where the help wasn't any better. I had heard about a place called Gumbos somewhere near the airport (the staff didn't even know the name of the restaurant that sits 300' directly behind the FBO). When we asked of other possible eateries, we were faced with blank stares, so we hoofed it over to Gumbos. This is definitely a worthwhile brunch, lunch or dinner fly-in destination... "fuh shore, for true" Update 09/16/2006 - Gumbo's Closed. The location is opened again under the name: Stella's Skyline Cafe, New Smyrna Beach - KEVB If you've had a chance to try the new place, please submit a review. >>> CLICK HERE <<<
